Donald Trump Returns To Twitter… To Sell T-Shirts Of His Mugshot…
Donald Trump tweeted for the first time in over TWO YEARS on Thursday evening. It was about messaging sure, but mostly — as with everything related to Trump — it was about putting some money in his pocket.
The POTUS infamously was suspended from Twitter after the January 6 insurrection. At the time, in the pre-Elon Musk days, the social network’s legal team was rightfully concerned his continued election misinformation would foment even more violence — as it had at the Capitol. So they suspended him. He has since made due with his own Truth Social, even choosing to stay away from the bird when Elon offered him his page back.
But in the wake of his fourth indictment — and first arrest where he had to take a mugshot — Trump decided to return to the platform. Clearly he thinks the newly rebranded X will be a place he can dig for treasure in the form of supporters’ hard-earned money! Because his first tweet back in two and a half years was an ad for a t-shirt with his mugshot on it:
LOLz! “Never surrender.” It’s a photo proving he literally surrendered himself to the Fulton County Jail for processing.
We aren’t exactly surprised he’s steering into the skid and acting proud of the mugshot. After all, he consistently says he’s done nothing wrong ever in his life and that all of this is an all-caps WITCH HUNT. You know, never mind evidence or logic or reality. None of that has bothered him before!
In any case, the link in the tweet takes you to a page where he’s selling tees with that pic — the Fulton County logo edited out, of course — for $47. We assume the price is a reference to the fact he’d be the 47th president if he got re-elected. He’s literally making money off his prosecution. Wow.
According to reports, a good chunk of that money will go to paying Trump’s mounting legal fees as he faces indictments in four cases, as well as yet another round of defamation suit from E. Jean Carroll, who already proved in a court of law that Trump raped her. In early August, it was estimated $130 MILLION of Trump supporters’ donations has gone to paying lawyers and fines and such — NOT into re-electing him.
We have to imagine plenty of bootleg tees of the mugshot will ALSO pop up online, we mean… he doesn’t own the pic any more than anyone else does, right? And they’re probably going to be cheaper than $47.
But what do YOU think of Trump selling his mugshot as a t-shirt, Perezcious pundits?? Let us know in the comments (below)!
