Gwyneth Paltrow has ‘grown’ in 1 way because of her relationship
Paltrow recently opened up about her personal life to actor Anna Faris on the podcast Anna Faris Is Unqualified. She revealed that her divorce from Martin as well as her relationship with Falchuk has taught her to “grow” throughout the years..
“I had learned more about myself through [my divorce] than I could have imagined,” she said, according to Harper’s Bazaar. “And because I focused on accountability, I was then able to find the most amazing man and build something that I’ve never had before.”
She also explained that Falchuk has encouraged her to change her communication style to be more productive.
“I was scared, because he is a person who demands presence and intimacy and communication in a way I just didn’t know how to,” Paltrow shared. “I like to fight by shutting down—goodbye! I leave the room. And he was like, ‘No, absolutely not. We’re sitting down, and we’re figuring this out.’ And he demands that I am honest with myself in a way that is hard for me, but which really helps me grow.”
Gwyneth Paltrow talks about being a stepmother to Brad Falchuk’s kids
Another big change is Paltrow’s life has been her new role as a stepmother to Falchuk’s teenage kids from his previous marriage—son Brody and daughter Isabella.
On a recent episode of Paltrow’s Goop Podcast, she talked to guest Gabrielle Union about being a stepmother.
“When I became a stepmother, when I knew I was going to become a stepmother, I was like, ’S***, I have no idea how to do this. There’s nothing to read. What do I do? Where do I step in? Where do I not? Like, how do I do this?’” Paltrow explained. “It’s been a really interesting challenge for me and I love them. I’ve learned so much about myself through the process.”
Union has stepchildren as well, and she drew her lessons from her experience as someone’s stepchild. She shared that simply being a consistent adult in her stepchildren’s lives is an important part of living in a blended family.
