Kourtney Kardashian praises doctors for saving babys life after emergency

Kourtney Kardashian has opened up about the terrifying medical incident that meant her unborn baby needed emergency attention.

The 44-year-old reality star is expecting her fourth child, and first with husband Travis Barker.

However, fears were raised last week when Blink-182 canceled their scheduled tour performances in the UK due to an ‘urgent family matter’ which required Travis to fly home immediately.

While the pair have been keeping quiet until now, Kourtney has now shared a statement explaining what happened.

In a new post on Instagram, Kourtney – with a tube in her wrist and marked with a hospital wristband, is seen holding the tattooed hand of her husband as she lies on a bed, with her baby bump barely on display but clearly bandaged.

The black-and-white photo is cropped, showing only the worried couple’s hands.

Next to the picture, the star wrote: “I will be forever grateful to my incredible doctors for saving our babies life. I am eternally grateful to my husband who rushed to my side from tour to be with me in the hospital and take care of me afterwards, my rock. And to my mom, thank you for holding my hand through this.”

“As someone who has had three really easy pregnancies in the past, I wasn’t prepared for the fear of rushing into urgent fetal surgery,” she added.

“I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been through a similar situation can begin to understand that feeling of fear. I have a whole new understanding and respect for the mamas who have had to fight for their babies while pregnant.”

“Praise be to God,” she ended. “Walking out of the hospital with my baby boy in my tummy and safe was the truest blessing.”

Travis later replied to the post with the words: “God is great”

Fears for Travis and Kourtney’s baby were first raised when Blink-182 announced last-minute on their Instagram they would be canceling their Glasgow, Belfast, and Dublin gigs.

Hours later, Travis shared pictures from an airport prayer room while he waited to get home.

Kourtney had previously announced on the tour – the first of the reunited line-up of Travis, Tom Delonge and Mark Hoppus since 2015 – that she was expecting their first child together.

Midway through their show in Los Angeles, Kourtney held up a handmade sign reading: “Travis I’m pregnant.”

This sweet gesture reflects his band Blink-182’s 1999 music video for All the Small Things.

It is not known how far along in her pregnancy Kourtney is, though due to the size of her bump, some speculated she was due to have the baby anytime within the next month.

This will be her fourth child – following Mason, Penelope and Reign from her relationship with Scott Disick – and Travis’s third – following Alabama and Landon from his marriage to Shanna Moakler.

While Kourtney was in hospital and recovering, the children were seen in the care of the Kardashian aunts, with Kim and Khloe spotted taking Penelope to Beyonce’s Renaissance tour show in Los Angeles.
