Amy Dowden has proudly shared her “new hair” on Instagram just weeks after she shaved her hair whilst battling breast cancer.

The Welsh dancer, who was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May, was forced to pull out of Strictly Come Dancing this year.

After shaving off her hair, Amy now “feels like herself” again after showing off her new look on social media.

Taking to Instagram, she penned: “HAD THE BEST MORNING!

“Two beautiful, gorgeous wigs from @amberjeanshop @amberjeanrowan. feel like Amy. Thank you so much. This is one of them, guess the colour of my other one?

“It’s not what you would expect. They have given me my confidence back.”

Many of her 565,000 followers flocked to the comments section to voice their reaction to her new hair.

Fellow pro dancer Dianne Buswell said: “Omg stunning,” with a red heart.

Another professional dancer, Neil Jones, wrote: “You look absolutely gorgeous.”

A fan commented: “You are looking amazing Amy. Makes me the happiest seeing you so happy.”

Another chimed in: “Wow. Channelling your inner ‘I’ve got this’. You always look gorgeous, but hair and that dress. So wonderful to see you. Xx.”

The pro dancer made the tragic announcement earlier this year that she had been forced to pull out of the 2023 series after she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

She later shared that her doctors had found “more tumours” and she would have to undergo chemotherapy.

Amy only married her husband Ben in June 2022 and found a lump in her breast the day before her honeymoon.

Speaking about her diagnosis, she said on Instagram: “Hey all, I’ve got some news which isn’t easy to share. I’ve recently been diagnosed with breast cancer but I’m determined to get back on that dance floor before you know it.”

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Saturday at 6:30pm.
