Strictly Come Dancing 2021 star Tom Fletcher and his partner Amy Dowden have both tested positive for Covid-19. This has left them isolating as Tom addressed having to be replaced on the McFly national tour with his fans.
In view of his two million followers on Instagram, Tom appeared in a video to share the latest updates.
He also addressed his replacement on the McFly tour, Tom Abisgold, as he penned a message to him.
The young musician and theatre actor is performing on the tour in his place.
Tom wrote: “It’s not always easy…”
“Huge thanks to @tomabisgold for stepping in for me on these @mcflymusic shows,” he continued.
“You’re smashing it, dude. It’s not always easy but McFLY’s here forever…one way or another!
“Sending my best to all the @bbcstrictly team and looking forward to getting back on that dance floor with you @amy_dowden. X”
In the video, Tom also thanked everyone for their kind messages as he shared how he was feeling fine.
He said: “I can’t finish the McFly tour, which I’m so sorry, I’m so gutted about.
“It hurts so much letting you guys down. You have no idea.
“But the show must go on, you guys have waited so long for a night of fun McFly entertainment.”
Yesterday, it was announced that Tom and Amy had tested positive for the virus.
This was a day after the series’ first live show aired on BBC One.
In a statement, the BBC confirmed they were self-isolating separately and will miss next week’s show.
The broadcaster added “that all being well, they will return the following week”.
Amy has also addressed their positive Covid test, sharing that she had “no symptoms”.
She said on her Instagram: “Unfortunately @tomfletcher and I have tested positive for Covid-19.
“I’m not suffering any symptoms but am now isolating at home.
“I have no doubt that over the next 10 days my mind will be going crazy with choreography ideas ready to get back on the Strictly dance floor for the live show in week 3!
“Thank you for all of the support and good luck to all of the couples this week.
“I will be cheering you all on! @bbcstrictly.”
Amy and Tom made their dancing debut on Saturday night as they performed the Cha Cha.
They were mid-way on the leaderboard after the dance, scoring 21 points from the judges.
