Piers Morgan, 56, has blasted Japanese professional tennis player Naomi Osaka, 23, in yet another scathing rant following her appearance at last night’s Met Gala 2021. Naomi was one of the famous co-chairs of the highly-anticipated event, hosted by Vogue Magazine’s Anna Wintour, alongside actor Timothée Chalamet, musician Billie Eilish, and poet Amanda Gorman.

However, Piers was quick to compare the four-time Grand Slam singles champion to her tennis “rival” Emma Raducanu, 18, who also attended the Met Gala following her incredible victory for Britain at the US Open.

The former Good Morning Britain presenter, who previously hit out at Osaka after she was open about her mental health struggles this year, which led her to withdrawal from the French Open and Wimbledon, called the tennis star a “fraud” in his latest column about fashion’s biggest night.

Piers also criticised Osaka’s outfit for the night, a stunning colourful corseted dress covered in a bold print.

Osaka’s dress was complete with a silk-mix cape featuring 22 ruffles, as she made a statement on the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s iconic staircase in New York.

The journalist fumed: “Speaking of frauds, tennis star Naomi Osaka has spent most of the year whining, crying, throwing racket-breaking tantrums on court, and blaming the media for her poor form and mental health issues.

“Yet last night she rocked up, as sulky faced as ever, to parade in front of the world’s media in an outrageous Louis Vuitton outfit that screamed ‘GIVE ME ATTENTION!’”

Piers added to the Daily Mail: “I’d say what I really think about it, but the woke brigade would only accuse me of being a sexist racist bully and order me to ‘LEAVE HER ALONE!’

“Suffice it to say, the dress would been better suited to a horror-themed Halloween party.”

Piers then took the opportunity to compare Osaka with Raducanu, praising her for smiling for cameras at the event.

Emma wore a bold geometric black and white co-ord for the glamorous evening.

The tennis star’s outfit complemented her athletic figure, as she highlighted her toned abs in a crop top.

She paired the crop top with an off-the-shoulder jacket and a matching floral skirt, and accessorised with a bejewelled body chain and patent black boots.

He added: “By marked contrast, her ever-smiling new rival Emma Raducanu – who embraces rather than attacks the media – wore a fun, glamorous black-and-white Chanel ensemble that was entirely appropriate for a girl of 18.”

However, Piers went on to brand Anna Wintour “ruthless” for inviting the US Open 2021 champion to the Met Gala so soon after her win in the final at the weekend.

He argued: “Though her presence at the Gala so soon after her US Open triumph exposed the brazen ruthlessness of the event’s chief, Vogue supremo Anna Wintour, who dumps and includes guests on a shamelessly populist whim like a Roman emperor giving a thumbs up or down to whether gladiators should live or die.

“Wintour sank her beady celebrity-exploiting claws into Raducanu faster than the world’s fastest animal killer, the Peregrine falcon which dive bombs its prey at 242mph.”

Piers then criticised the event as a whole, branding it “even more irrelevant than ever” amid the global coronavirus pandemic.

It comes after Piers faced backlash over his takedown of Osaka on Twitter.

The presenter was criticised after he called Osaka an “arrogant spoiled brat” and branded her “world sport’s most petulant little madam” because she decided against attending press conferences during the French Open due to her mental health.

Osaka withdrew from the French Open as she opened up on her struggles with depression.

Explaining her decision in an Instagram post, the tennis champion said it was “the best thing for the tournament, the other players and my well-being”.

She continued: “I never wanted to be a distraction and I accept that my timing was not ideal and my message could have been clearer.

“More importantly I would never trivialise mental health or use the term lightly.”
