This article about Atlanta celebrities

The Internet has become a significant part of our culture as well, with many of us going online to research interesting facts and pictures while we browse the Internet and check email or chat with friends. I dont know about you all, but I check the Internet constantly and often go online to see what the latest happenings are, and as much as I find information and interesting pictures online, thats usually just the tip of the iceberg. One of the most interesting sites that I came across while researching this article was an Internet community that was called The Internet. It was a forum for computer and internet experts and enthusiasts that existed from 1996 to 1999, and it had a very unique focus: it was the site of people that did nothing but discuss technology, news, products, movies, music and other things of that nature. Of course, there was a lot to discuss and it was very active, with a huge variety of people from around the world participating in the conversation. I couldnt help but notice that one very large group, if you could call it that, was made up of people from the Atlanta area. Atlantas contribution to The Internet was its forum, the Atlanta Recording Industry Users Group. As a city that was very much into pop culture and music, it makes sense that there would be a forum where people went to discuss and discuss music. The members of ARIUG were known as the ARG community because they had a very specific focus. In the ARG community, there was a specific subgroup called the ARGers. They were called ARGers because each one would participate in a group called ARGU, which could be shortened to simply ARG and pronounced as ARK-guh. The term ARG community would have referred to these particular ARGers instead. ARGU was an organization on the Internet that could be referred to as the group of ARGUs where they could discuss anything that was to do with computer related activities with each other. It was a very unique and interesting subgroup because it was the only subgroup that was dedicated solely to computer related topics on the Internet. And, because ARGU was dedicated to discussing computer related topics online with other ARGUs, there was no geographical limitation to joining ARGU. You could be in any country and participate in discussions with others from any part of the world. The ARGU members werent just discussing technology. They discussed politics, religion, science, history, fashion, food, travel, movies, music and a whole lot more. When it came to discussing the Internet, though, they were the only ones who were truly dedicated to the topic.
