Article about Celebrities protesting trump

You watch the protest videos all the time on the internet and you have been waiting for this moment since the night when Donald Trump announced his candidacy. At first you thought maybe it would be just a group of celebrities protesting at a Trump rally. But then you saw pictures of celebrities, celebrities with their signs made of dollar bills, celebrities with signs painted black. And finally, your friend Andrea who had been tweeting about the event. You had been so preoccupied with your own plans that you had forgotten she was even there. Then the images of celebrities protesting against Trump started to flood the internet. There were protesters of all races, all orientations, all political affiliations and ages. They were not protesting Trump, they were protesting the personification of white supremacy in the form of Donald Trump. The images of a protester being punched in the face while his girlfriend held the sign that read Make America Hate Again was too horrific to watch. And the ones that really got to you were all the photos of people of all types of sexual orientations and gender identities protesting and sitting on the steps of a building with their signs. They had all created a public display in which they were proud to be seen in. They had created a space in which they were comfortable to be seen in. They had created a space in which they were free. You were not there for these protests, you were not there for the protests of people of color, of gender non-conforming, of queer, of immigrants, or of anyone else. As an openly gay man who has worked harder than most to achieve that freedom you needed to feel as free as you were. There is no way you can possibly understand what these men and women were feeling. You cannot even imagine their pain. But what these protesters were experiencing they needed to feel. So they sat on the steps of their building holding up signs that read Love Trumps Hate. You could not make them feel any better. You could not even make yourself feel any better. You open the door and take one last look at the pictures of celebrities who joined you in your protest. You sit on your couch feeling exhausted. Then you sit down on your bed too, exhausted as you try to figure out how you are going to get through this day. You dont feel like anything for a while. You lay off the internet for a bit and then its back to that. You watch a few TV shows and then you watch them again.
