{"id":30564,"date":"2023-09-09T21:43:12","date_gmt":"2023-09-09T21:43:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/onelidlesseye.com\/?p=30564"},"modified":"2023-09-09T21:43:12","modified_gmt":"2023-09-09T21:43:12","slug":"sara-pascoe-criticised-for-joke-about-titanic-submarine-implosion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/onelidlesseye.com\/celebrity\/sara-pascoe-criticised-for-joke-about-titanic-submarine-implosion\/","title":{"rendered":"Sara Pascoe criticised for joke about Titanic submarine implosion"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Sewing Bee star Sara Pascoe is criticised for joking about the Titanic submarine implosion which killed five people after saying &#8216;it&#8217;s funny when billionaires die&#8217;<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u00a0The comedian made the comment on stage at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Great British Sewing Bee host Sara Pascoe has been blasted for saying of the five killed in the Titanic submarine disaster: \u2018It\u2019s funny when billionaires die.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Comedian Pascoe, 42, posted a clip on Instagram showing her on stage mocking those who died in the 12,500ft dive to the liner at the bottom of the Atlantic in June.<\/p>\n<p>Last night she appeared to have removed the video following a backlash from fans.<\/p>\n<p>In the footage, shot at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival last month, she says: \u2018I did like it when those billionaires in the submarine died, I did like it when the submarine exploded and the billionaires drowned, I couldn\u2019t help it.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We don\u2019t have to empathise with billionaires, they don\u2019t empathise with us.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/09\/21\/75252221-12499725-image-a-63_1694290394391.jpg\" height=\"1143\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Comedian Sara Pascoe, 41, provoked a backlash from fans after she published a post of her on stage mocking those who died in the Titanic submarine disaster<\/p>\n<p>\u2018They could solve all the world\u2019s problems and they choose not to, so it\u2019s funny, it\u2019s funny when they die.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018What I want is the sea to get a taste for the super-rich, like a horror movie, and start coming out to get them one by one in little one man-sized tsunamis.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Also, it was called the Titanic Experience \u2013 what do they expect, \u201cnot to drown?\u201d I\u2019m obsessed with it, I went on the website to read about the description when you\u2019re booking it, it says \u201cOnce in a lifetime\u201d \u2013 did they lie?\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Victims of the catastrophic submarine implosion were Britons Hamish Harding, 58, boss of a private plane company, and Shahzada Dawood, 48, vice-chairman of a chemicals-to-energy conglomerate, and his son Suleman, 19.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Also killed were French explorer Paul-Henri Nargeolet, 77, and Stockton Rush, 61, boss of OceanGate, which operated dives to the Titanic.<\/p>\n<p>Pascoe is a regular on the BBC\u2019s QI and has also appeared on Channel 4\u2019s 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Before she removed the Instagram clip, she came under fire from fans online.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/09\/19\/75250867-12499725-image-a-54_1694285701140.jpg\" height=\"399\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The submarine operated by Oceangate imploded in June while diving 12,500 ft to the shipwreck at the bottom of the Atlantic killing all passengers onboard<\/p>\n<p>One said: \u2018Did you find it funny when you heard about the 19-year- old kid aboard too?\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Another critic said: \u2018I\u2019m really disgusted and horrified at this clip. People died and loved ones suffered.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Yet another said: \u2018I like a bit of edgy humour\u2026 we seem to be \u201ccancelling\u201d so much of it these days. But this one? It\u2019s a bit personal, a bit mean-spirited and, as has been pointed out in other posts, Sara is not short of a bob or two herself.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Last year Pascoe reported a celebrity to TV bosses after a fan told her that he had raped her.
