Former Love Island star Laura Anderson would be the first to admit that the early weeks of motherhood have looked very different to how she'd once imagined them.<\/p>\n

The 34 year old, who welcomed her baby daughter Bonnie with Gary Lucy in September, split from the ex Hollyoaks actor in early 2023, shortly after publicly announcing the pregnancy. <\/p>\n

While there were a few attempts to get back together and Gary, 41, was by her side throughout the labour, they are no longer a couple.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted nothing more than for us to be a family and to be together, but unfortunately it hasn\u2019t worked out,\u201d said Laura, who previously spoke out about her fears of being a single mum.<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody has the perfect set-up, even people who are in relationships. Life is difficult and I know now it\u2019s OK not to have the fairy-tale.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo one knows what the future holds, but it\u2019s really important that Bonnie has a mother and a father who love her and who are getting along. She needs both of us in her life, so that is always going to be my priority.\u201d<\/p>\n

Laura has admitted that she and Gary are on good terms and are co-parenting to the best of their ability. <\/p>\n

She said: "I would say me and Gary are friends. We\u2019re co-parenting as best we can right now and I think it\u2019ll fall into place and make sense as she gets older. With both of our jobs, there can\u2019t be too much routine at the moment anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n

Laura lives in Glasgow, Scotland, while Gary is based in Essex. But Laura has insisted her door is always open and he is free to see Bonnie at any time.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s up to Gary \u2013 he\u2019s more than welcome to come here whenever he wants to see her and I\u2019m taking the lead from him,\u201d she said. \u201cI want them to have a bond and I want him to witness all the changes, the smiles and the little giggles because time just goes so fast. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve not fully worked it out yet and I imagine it\u2019ll be easier to schedule things when Bonnie\u2019s a bit older. But for now, if I come down to London for work, I always tell him so he can see her."<\/p>\n

Laura and Gary met while filming Celebs Go Dating in summer 2022.<\/p>\n

Gary is also dad to India, 18, Elvis, 12, Sadie, seven, and four-year-old Theodore with ex-wife Natasha Gray.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
