Adele was moved to tears as she spotted the doctor who had delivered her son in the audience during her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace on Saturday night.

Dressed as Morticia Addams for Halloween, the 35-year-old singer was performing When We Were Young from her album 25 when she noticed the familiar face.

Midway through the emotional song, Adele paused her set and rushed into the audience to embrace the doctor.

The star has a 10-year-old son, Angelo, from her previous three-year marriage to Simon Konecki.

During the weekend's 33 performances, Adele could be seen mouthing 'shut up!' in between lines of the ballad as she couldn't believe what she was witnessing.

Recognising the doctor who delivered her son, she exclaimed, "Oh my god, Colin! Oh my god! This is my doctor who gave birth to my baby! I haven't seen you for years!"

Adele then chatted away with her long-lost friend while the tune continued playing in the background.

In the midst of the emotional encounter, the star apologised to her fans for the interruption.

"Sorry!" she said. "Will you sing it for me? That man delivered my baby!"

Fans on Twitter were quick to express their admiration for the touching moment and Adele's sweet gesture to the medic.

One person said, "This is so heart-warming," while another added, "That's just the coolest thing ever!"

It comes after another emotional moment during Adele's Las Vegas show, as she paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Friends star Matthew Perry, describing him as "incredibly, incredibly brave."

Matthew Perry was found dead at his LA home on Saturday after an apparent drowning incident.

Dressed in a gothic-inspired long black dress and wig for Halloween, Adele recalled her childhood memories of watching Matthew play Chandler Bing in the popular '90s US sitcom.

She said: "It's always quite shocking when, especially someone that made you laugh, who brought so much joy to your life that you don't know – this is what I find so strange.

"I've never met him in my life; it's happened with a few other comedians and stuff like that, but there's something so… you feel so sad about it.

"Especially because you don't necessarily know what was going on."

She went on to call his Friends character one of the "best comedic characters" of all time and praised Matthew for bravely speaking out about his addiction issues.
