Shane Warne’s son Jackson has recalled the life-changing moment he learned his cricket legend father had died aged 52.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Australian spin king died suddenly from a suspected heart attack aged March 4 2022 while holidaying with mates in Koh Samui, Thailand.<\/p>\n
Speaking to SAS Australia star\u00a0Ant Middleton’s\u00a0Head Game\u00a0podcast this week, the 24-year-old revealed he learned of his father’s death after one of Shane’s travel buddies called him with the grim news.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Jackson was with his mother Simone Callahan, girlfriend\u00a0Kiah Broadsmith, sister Brooke and Brooke’s partner\u00a0Alex Heath at the time.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘I still very vividly remember seeing my phone, and who was calling. I thought, ‘Hang on, he’s with my dad. Very weird that he would be calling me, not my dad. So I’ll answer it,’ he recalled.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

After putting down the phone, Jackson said he burst into tears before sitting in silence for hours.<\/p>\n
‘I don’t think I’ll ever be able to probably forget where I was or what I was doing,’ he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘Because all you get is a phone call, and then when you hang up the phone call, your life that you’ve been living your entire life, everything you ever knew… just gets completely flipped upside down.’<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Jackson shared a heartbreaking confession about how he has been coping with the loss.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘I’m still convinced – and it might sound crazy… that I’ll at least have one conversation with my dad again. I don’t know whether it will be in a dream, or somewhere,’ he confessed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘Because there’s no way I won’t be able to talk to him about poker or Saint Kilda football club, or any of the hobbies that we used to do all the time. There’s no way I won’t be able to talk to him about it.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

Shane was\u00a0found unconscious in his hotel room at the Samujana Villas resort, Thailand, on March 4, 2022.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The grim discovery was made by his manager and friend Andrew Neophitou, who had gone to Shane’s hotel room before a planned dinner.<\/span><\/p>\n Neophitou desperately tried to revive him by performing CPR for 20 minutes – but he couldn’t be saved and later died in hospital.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Elsewhere, Jackson shared a heartbreaking confession about how how he has been coping with the loss. ‘I’m still convinced – and it might sound crazy… that I’ll at least have one conversation with my dad again,’ he said<\/p>\n An autopsy showed the sports star died of natural causes, with a suspected heart attack believed to be the cause.\u00a0<\/p>\n Shane was later farewelled in a state memorial service at Melbourne Cricket Ground.<\/p>\n Jackson subsequently shared a gut-wrenching tribute to his father on Instagram, calling the late cricketer\u00a0‘truly the best father and best mate anyone could’ve asked for’.<\/p>\n Shane is survived by his ex-wife Simone Callahan, and children Jackson, Brooke and Summer.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Shane is survived by his ex-wife Simone Callahan (second left), and children Jackson (far left), Brooke (far right) and Summer (second right)\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\nREAD MORE:\u00a0Shane Warne’s daughter Brooke reveals how her family is coping with the loss of the cricketing legend\u00a0<\/h3>\n
