Johnny Ruffo shared an emotional final post on Instagram one month before he lost his battle with brain cancer at just 35 years old.

The Australian actor and singer, who was best known for playing Chris Harrington in Home and Away, tragically passed away on Friday 10 November at a hospital in Sydney surrounded by his family and partner Tahnee Sims.

His family members broke the tragic news to his fans as they updated his Instagram account and shared in a statement: “It is with a heavy heart that today we had to farewell our beloved Johnny.”

Johnny’s last post before this was a shared post with his girlfriend in August, who penned: “6 years on from diagnosis. What a fighter!”.

The shared post showed an emotional video montage of moments during his brave battle with cancer. He shared glimpses of his treatments, showed off the stitches on his head, and sweet moments with his partner and family.

Despite the difficulties the actor was going through, he appeared to keep up a positive attitude and was seen smiling and putting a thumbs up on many of the snaps.

At the time, Johnny was flooded with support from fans and his former co-stars. Home and Away's Lynne McGranger wrote: “Love you both. Always in my prayers”, while radio host Michael 'Wippa' Wipfli added: “Couldn’t be prouder of my man”.

His family’s statement announcing his death continued and read: “Surrounded by his partner Tahnee and family, Johnny went peacefully with the support of some incredible Nurses & Doctors.

“He was a very talented, charming and sometimes cheeky boy. Johnny was very determined and had a strong will. He battled all the way to the end and fought as hard as he could. Such a beautiful soul with so much more to give.

“We all love you Johnny and will remember you for all the joy you brought to our lives. Rest easy.”

Johnny first launched his acting career in 2013 after he found fame on the X Factor Australia in 2011.

After only initially being contracted to appear on a few episodes of Home and Away, he soon became a regular and featured on the show until 2016.

The star was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2017 after seeking help for painful migraines. He announced in 2019 that his cancer was in remission but it sadly returned the following year. Last year, Johnny confirmed his cancer was terminal.
