<\/p>\nDame Joan Collins has revealed the very unlikely inspiration for her iconic Dynasty character\u00a0Alexis Carrington Colby.<\/p>\n
The actress, 90, who played the role in the American soap for eight years until 1989, made the revelation during a ‘flirty’ interview with Louis Theroux, 53, on Tuesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Speaking about the show, which told the story of a fictional American Dynasty, Joan revealed one of it’s biggest fans at time was none other than former president\u00a0 Donald Trump, now 77, who influenced her portrayal.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘I said when I was asked about my character Alexis, who did I think of when preparing, I said \u201cwell a mixture of Donald Trump”, who was not President then, he was just a businessman’,<\/p>\n
‘And a friend of mine who was a very glamorous woman about town who was very clever, so I wanted to have a mixture of them,\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n

Louis then asked what specific qualities of Trump did she incorporate into the character with the actress pin pointing his ‘ruthlessness’.<\/p>\n
But Dame Joan refused to be drawn into a discussion on politics saying:\u00a0\u2018I am trying not to get involved politically. I am an actress so I don\u2019t think we should spout our political opinions,\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n
Only to quip:\u00a0\u2018Well let\u2019s say that if you played him in a movie people would say \u201cno, that\u2019s too over the top\u201d’.<\/p>\n
Earlier in the episode fans were quick to spot the star ‘flirting’ with host Louis as she offered him a tour of her lavish home in the South of France.<\/p>\n
During a chat about weight the broadcaster encouraged Joan to to feel his stomach as she purred: ‘Is that a six pack?’.<\/p>\n
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one wrote:\u00a0‘Just watched the first chunk of the Louis Theroux interview with the divine Joan Collins. At ninety she can still flirt like a seventeen year old, and still has an ageless charisma. A role model for anybody concerned about being passed their first youth’.<\/p>\n
